The history of the Dutch East India Company (VOC) is everywhere to be seen in Enkhuizen. Villa Enkhuizen is situated in a town where time seems to have stood still. Enkhuizen and its surroundings are great for walking, cycling and boat trips.

Four different ferry services take you from Enkhuizen to Stavoren, Urk or Medemblik.
A guided walk is a good way to explore the historical centre of Enkhuizen. The Zuiderzee Museum is a must see. It has a great number of special activities for children. Characters from fairy tales, a range of attractions, a real castle… There’s a lot to see at Sprookjeswonderland (Dutch website). Over the past few years the park has expanded a lot. Sprookjeswonderland makes for an ideal trip for families with young children.
The West Friesland countryside around Enkhuizen is perfect for cycling and walking. Enjoy extensive polder panoramas, blossoming tulip fields or a view over the IJsselmeer.
Shopping in Enkhuizen is full of surprises! In streets such as Westerstraat and Vijzelstraat you’ll find a mix of big brand high street stores and quaint independent shops and boutiques. The shops are open from Monday to Saturday and every first Sunday of the month.
Attractive bars, cafés and good quality restaurants can be found around the harbours of Enkhuizen. Many restaurants have a spectacular view across the IJsselmeer.
